Covid Task
- OXYGEN – The Government is tacking the increased Oxygen requirement through a 3-pronged Strategy of increasing Supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO), massive scaling of localized generation capacity through Oxygen Generators, large scale procurement of Concentrators and Cylinders.
- Bed Management – Last year in March 2020, the Department of Health and Family Welfare had 1970 oxygenated beds, 444 ICUs and 610 ICUs with ventilators. Today there is more than 24000 oxygenated beds, 1145 ICU beds, 2058 ventilated beds and 1248 beds with HFNCs.
- In Medical Education Department, the number of oxygen beds has increased from 4700 to 9405. The number of ventilated beds from 341 to 646 and the number of HFNCs from 15 to 570.
- Triage Centres – Set up 58 triaging centres in the eight BBMP zones. with a cumulative strength of 3,218 beds. The Government has also established 289 CCC in 227 taluks.
- ICU Beds and Ventilators in Bengaluru – 4,000 ICU and ventilator beds in Bengaluru; 500 in each of the eight zones.
- Remdesivir – Established a transparent system of collecting demand from private hospitals and coordinating supplies in a proportionate manner.
- Covid Measures in Rural Areas – Hostels in rural areas will be transformed into CCCs.
- In the 207 community health centres which have 30 beds each, all beds converted into oxygenated beds. In taluk hospitals, 50 ICU beds including 15 ventilator and six paediatric beds made available.
- Tackling Third Wave – Notified a 13-member committee headed Dr Devi Shetty to analyse, advise and control a possible third Covid-19 wave in Karnataka.
- On the recommendation of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) to ramp up childcare infrastructure for children infected by Covid-19, three quarantine centres (QCs) and a Covid Care Centre (CCC) have begun operations in Bengaluru.
- Measures are taken on fully vaccinating both the parents to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus to children
- Initiated steps to educate and train ASHA and health workers to test paediatric symptoms.
- Measures to educate parents on the Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MISC)
